Komprise – Product Brief

Komprise Intelligent Data Management software brings together analytics and automated data migration. Promoted as “data aware,” it analyzes access characteristics of unstructured data and projects ROI if the modeled migrations are activated. Policies can be varied to perform “what if” scenarios. File and object archiving is handled by the Transparent Move Technology included in Komprise Intelligent Data Management.

Led by serial entrepreneurs Kumar Goswami, Krishna Subramanian and Michael Peercy, Komprise was founded in 2014, announced a $6M Series-A funding round in June, 2015, and actively started promoting its product at NAB in April, 2016, followed by EMC World in May and it has been promoted since.

Komprise announced a joint marketing agreement with Quantum in June, 2016. Both companies will actively sell the joint solution. A similar agreement was subsequently announced with Spectra Logic and other storage vendor companies.

File migration is the fundamental technology of Komprise and is positioned by them as Data Management. On-premises software is offered as well as cloud DMaaS – Data Management as a Service. From an archive standpoint, Komprise moves the data and does indexing and searching. Redirecting access from one location to another is not part of the offering.
